My wood frames are all one of a kind because they use the natural edge of the slab, giving each one a unique shape.
This is one of the largest slab frames I have made which means it will have a special presence in the right space. It was made from a walnut slab I collected from my brother's reclaimed wood lumber yard. This particular piece of wood had a lot of sap wood so it is much lighter than the typical walnut most people associate with the tree. The back shows the more darker brown but i chose the lighter side for the front bc of the dark live edge that runs along the top and right edge, creating the movement of dusk moving in over the trees. the wood grain above the trees is also reminiscent of wind or clouds made from where worms made their way thru the tree. I hand printed trees along the entire length of the frame to mimic a thick forest set under the waning daylight of a late summer day. The frame holds a 4x6 photo which slips in the back of the frame. Frame is ready to hang.
